Album Review:

The Wild Racers is the accompanying soundtrack to the film of the same name.

'Wild Racers Theme' could pass as a late 60s surf / hot rod instrumental.  The saccharine 'Love Theme From Wild Racers' sets the tone for much of the rest of the album. 'Bedroom Theme' is a slow, jazzy jam while the harpsichord-laden 'First Meeting' is equally forgettable. The Arrows' 'The Checkered Flag' is a retooling of the first track and slightly more rock-centered. None of the next three tracks, 'The Train Station,' 'Dance Party,' and 'The Lonely River' are of consequence. 'Love Theme' is sung in French and 'The Bullfight' has a Spanish tinge.

Not really a surf album, The Wild Racers is included here mainly for historical reference and for including Davie Allen and the Arrows' 'Checkered Flag.'
