The Surfaris

// 1966 on Decca Records (SDL-10232) (Japan)

4.5

Album Review:

Surf music may have died in the United States in 1965, but in Japan, the genre still remained as popular as ever. This 1966 compilation of Surfaris tracks is quite strong. It is most notable for the inclusion of one of the rarest B-sides in the Surfaris' catalog - 'Theme From the Battle Maiden.' The tune never appeared on any North American albums, and was not available until the now out-of-print 1995 compilation Surfaris Stomp which included rare singles and unreleased tracks.

Only pressed in stereo, copies are exceedingly hard to find.
