Album Review:

Ever heard of bad luck? Well, the Original Surafris had a lot of it. First, their name was co-opted by another unrelated group that had a massive hit in 1963 'Wipe Out.' Second, after losing a lawsuit against the more popular Glendora band, they were forced to change their name (adding the "original"). Third, after recording with the infamous Tony Hidler in early 1963, the group was cheated out of the rights to their music, and had to watch helplessly as their songs ended up on countless budget surfing albums (usually misleadingly labeled as "The Surfaris" or uncredited). Despite being one of the best surf combos of the era, the Original Surfaris' misfortune caused the band to be mostly forgotten until Sundazed unearthed an unreleased album and issued it as Bombora in 1995.

The only tune here actually played by the original Surfaris is 'Delano Soul Beat' (sometimes shortened to 'Soul Beat' on other similarly shady compilations).  Everything else is your typical "it-has-guitar-so-we-retitled-it-to-pass-it-off-as-a-surf-tune" faire.
