Album Review:

AIP’s Pajama Party film was an offshoot of the beach party genre that starred Annette, Tommy Kirk, and Dorothy Lamour. Interestingly, though its premise still involves the sand and sun, most of the tracks on this release aren’t obliquely surf-related. Though it differs from the usual beach fare, musically, this release remains positioned squarely in the surf films of the era, and the music on the album is worthwhile.

The soundtrack was penned by Guy Hemric and Jerry Steiner and featured some surfy moments. ‘Beach Ball’ is an awesome surf track as well as ‘Pajama Party.’ The instrumental versions are extremely surfy.

I’m still not sure how the photos of Annette in various sleepwear outfits were okayed by Disney Record executives, but Pajama Party still offers enough musically to warrant checking out.
