Album Review:

Despite the insistent namedropping on the cover attempting to persuade potential buyers, Out of Sight! is a very ungroovy collection of tracks that were hopelessly unhip by 1967. Most of these tracks originate from 1960-1963. The early Paul Revere and the Raiders 1961 instrumental 'Like Charleston' is a pretty poor example of the group's abilities. 'Close Your Eyes' is attributed to only Lou Christie, though the original 1960 single was originally credited to the Classics. Lou Rawls' inclusion was pulled from a 1961 single as was the Tommy Roe track.

Of most interest on this compilation is the fact that a pre-Velvet Underground Lou Reed sings on the lone surf related tune, 'Cycle Annie.' This track had originally been included on the equally exploitive 1965 compilation Soundsville!
