Album Review:

A very rare Canadian surf release. Appearing in 1968, the music on this album predates this pressing by a full six years. In actuality, this is the Cornells’ Beach Bound album under a different name with slightly different takes. The aforementioned album can go for upwards of $500, so if you're interested in owning a copy, this Canada-only counterpart is probably your best option.

Notwithstanding the original album's high price tag, the music on Ten Tons of Wet comprises rather uninspired early surf tunes. No mono was issued and although everything is in stereo, the mastering is noticeably poor, causing there are many dropouts between channels. 'Loop' and 'Hash Board' are this reviewer's picks.

Exactly how a self-pressed 1962 surfing album came to be re-released under a different name in British Columbia, Canada, is a mystery. Many of the song titles are changed, and the back cover is riddled with spelling errors. Unless you're actively on the lookout for the Cornells' uber-rare offering, my advice is to skip this one.....
