Album Review:
Astute observers will recognize that this is the same cover (almost) as the Bruce Johnston Band album by the same name. In fact, if it weren't for the lack of track listings on the front, they'd be identical. For unknown reasons, Del-Fi mixed up both releases and gave them the same catalog number DFLP/DFST-1228.
The record is completely different, crediting the Centurians (a misspelling of "Centurions"), and was probably scheduled to be issued as DFLP-1230.
Mistaken paperwork aside, the Centurions album is actually very good. There are many classics on here such as 'Intoxica,' 'Body Surfin’, 'Latinia,' and 'Surfin’ at Mazatland.' It’s also one of the first surf albums - released very early 1963. Oh, and did I mention it’s rare? Like way harder to find than the already scarce Bruce Johnston Surfing Band version. I guess Del-Fi didn’t bother pressing too many additional copies after they realized their mistake. If you haven’t taken a listen to it, I’d highly recommend it.
