Album Review:

Recorded live at the Surf Side Club in Salt Lake City, Utah, Recorded Live is a rare capsule of land-locked recordings played in the California surf style.

There are two versions of this record. The first was recorded so poorly that the band re-recorded the entire thing. First editions include 'Mashed Potatoes,' 'Lonesome Town,' and 'Abilene.' Second editions are identified by the prominent black border on the cover. The sound is much cleaner and includes 'Vic's Song,' 'Winter Winds,' 'Long Tall Texan,' and Memphis.'

As far as music goes, selections are pulled from the traditional rock covers of the day and played in an accentuated surf style. 'Surfer Joe' is an okay cover by garage band standards. The lone original, 'Sparkling Sands,' is perhaps the pick of the bunch.

Recorded Live may be especially rare, but it is not especially interesting. Copies tend to change hands for upwards of $100.
