Album Review:

Born out of the hot rod wave, the first two releases credited to the T-Bones had been squarely devoted to car-themed instrumental rock. Surprisingly, a full two years and three albums after their origination, the studio band found themselves with an unexpected Top Ten Hit ('No Matter What Shape Your Stomach's In,' Billboard #3). Even odder, this tune took its melody from an Alka-Seltzer jingle. All this from a group that initially took its name from So Cal's jargon for a stripped-down Model T Ford!

The title track definitely has the soft summer vibes of similar later surf music forays present through-out. The rest of the album is pretty forgettable - though not entirely unenjoyable. As with other T-Bones albums, there are plenty of twangy guitars, ringing glockenspiel, swingin' sixties organs, and a few vocal "ah's" thrown in as well. 'Pizza Parlor' isn't bad, and 'Let's Hang On' can be a lot of fun, but neither are surf music.
