Album Review:

Whether this was meant to be the same De-Fenders as the Del-Fi Drag Beat album is ambiguous, though it's obvious that it's not performed by the same group.

Most everything here is performed in a pseudo-surf style, mimicking the early 60s instrumental 'Wheels' style. Sure, there are elements of the genre, but only so much as can be secondarily linked by various other surf band covers or standards of the time. 'Pipeline' is the one legitimate surf moment. Other noteworthy moments are the Blossoms on 'Boss Guitar' (same group that can be heard on Al Casey's Surfin Hootenanny), and a pretty smooth cover of '40 Miles of Bad Road.'

In addition to standard black vinyl, copies were also pressed on translucent green and red vinyl.
