Album Review:
A compilation of seemingly unrelated tracks that is notable for including the Revels' "Church Key" among a few other surf-adjacent tracks from the Original Sound catalogue.

"Church Key" is the main reason to pick this one up if you find it. For perspective, your other options for acquiring this track on 60s vinyl are the $500-$600 Revels on a Rampage album, or the obscure Impact Records single b/w "Vesuvius." To a lesser extent, the Champs' "Tequila" is also lifted from a rather pricey album, Go, Champs, Go! Two Preston Epps tracks, "Bongo Bongo Bongo" and "Bongo Rock," will be of light interest to fans of the 1963 Original Sound Bongo Teens/ Preston Epps Surfin' Bongos album. I suppose one could make the argument that "Honkey Tonk (Parts I & II)" could be relevant as the Beach Boys covered them on their Surfin' U.S.A. album, but it's a stretch.

Not essential by any means, Big Bad Boss Beat is anything but. And yes, the cover is as weirdly cropped in person.

CHOICE CUTS:
