Here is a super-odd release that is essentially half sound effect record and half surf music. With only three tracks per side, the majority of the album is purely sound effects recorded at a bike race circa 1964. Here and there music will fade in before being mixed out to accommodate more bike sounds. Some tracks go on for 3 minutes before any music is added. While no artist is credited, the discerning listener will instantly identify that the person behind this release was session musician Jerry Cole who was notorious for cutting cheap instrumental records with reused compositions across the board. In fact, many songs from earlier albums appear here disguised as originals.

From what I can tell, the only truly original tracks are 'Steeplechase' and 'Figure 8', though these may very well have appeared on other Jerry Cole releases from the time. Three tracks from Jerry Cole's Surf Age get rebranded with alternate titles and slightly alternative instrumentation. 'Rosarita Surf' becomes 'Take Off', 'Night Rumble' morphs into 'On the Front', and a very brief (like 30 seconds) of 'Jerry's Jump' is heard in the final 30 seconds of 'Down the Turn.' Following this, the bike noises cease and we finally get a 'full' (1:37) track - 'The Winner' which is actually a nerwe version of 'Mr. Wobble Wheels' from Cole's Hot Rod Dance Party. While a welcome break from the ruckus of engines driving past it's a middling retread of previous material.

While Cole had proved he could put out excellent material when given the budget (Capitol's Surf Age and Hot Rod Dance Party), when left to his own devices his output became noticeably cheap and thin. I can think of no better example than this album. The good thing is that most copies are in incredible condition as I can't imagine many were played much...
